I have read all these messages about needing help after researching Christmas ideas on the net and it breaks my heart. I am a single mom of two boys as well. I have spent the last four years putting myself through college and have just finished my student teaching. I haven't received a paycheck since last May. I don't want anyone's help or money or gifts, I want to share my sons (12 & 10) and my plans for a Christmas poor funds, but rich in spirit. We are hoping to volunteer at a homeless shelter and will be baking treats, making ornaments for eachother, and writing letters to each person about how important they are - something to cherish forever. I realize some of you have tiny ones, but memories can still be made by sharing your love if you have no money. There will be so many in need this holiday, but don't let a need for material things destroy the love you have together. Besides, gift giving can come later as a surprise when you're back on your feet!
